What government discounts are available for Department of Transportation contractors?

I am a weather observer and its a government contracted job. Upon getting hired I received a Dep. of Transporation badge. I was told that I could use it to get government rates on hotels, does anyone know how I would go about doing this, and what exactly is the discount? Also, would I be able to get discounts in any other fields (i.e. airline)?
a coworker of mine just used her DOT ID to get hotel discounts for a family vacation.

If you are traveling on government business, the badge will work.

If you are NOT traveling on government business, you won't get a discount.

Don Henley: Hotel California Live

I want to stay in downtown Las Vegas on Oct. 6th. How or where can I go to get rates and not get a hose job?

Also need to get a car. Do any hotels offer this service?

We lucked out and got a free place for Friday, but wifey wants to stay downtown.

Being from Dallas, I am hopelessly lost 25 feet from the city limit.

What is the price of a cab form the airport to lets say the Gold Nugget.

Any other suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks for the help.

For great rates, guaranteed reservations and excellent service, you should check out the Las Vegas Reservation Bureau. They are the oldest reservation service in Las Vegas.

The Golden Nugget would be an excellent choice for a downtown Las Vegas Hotel. It is the only 4-star hotel downtown. They just completed a multi-million dollar pool renovation. There is a multi-floor aquarium, which goes down into the pool. You can swim with sharks.

You'll also be center stage for the Fremont Street Experience.

It is best to take care of your car rental at the airport or make a car rental reservation online for pickup at the airport.

There is a company that provides shuttle service to all of the hotels. Showtime Airport Shuttle - a one-way shuttle trip to any downtown hotel is about $8 per person. Round trip is about $15 per person.
