Nursing Graduates Get the Best Jobs
Looking for a career that is both rewarding and can provide fulfillment? Then consider nursing as an option – you can help people, make a difference to their lives, and it's a job that gives a lot of satisfaction.
There are various types of nursing professions these days and you can choose which area to specialise in depending on your interests, from working with geriatric or perinatal patients, or the psychiatric or paediatrics ward. However nursing isn't just about learning all the medical terms and practical procedures, it's just as important you learn how to be approachable and can identify how much, and what kind of support people need.
Your duties as a nurse will be dependent on the area you opt to specialise in and the location, your job could entail you work in a government or private hospital, nursing home, school or prison. There are many elements to the role of a nurse, including assessing the information on each patient and diagnosing their problems. A major part is to implement nursing plans and monitor and evaluate patient's progress, as well as providing emotional and physical support to them and their family.
There are full time nursing degree courses in the areas of adult, child, mental health and learning disabilities. They take 3 years to complete and are offered by higher education institutions across England. Degree programmes start off the same with a common foundation programme that provides a general introduction to nursing with an introduction to the four branches of nursing including maternity care. This is followed by a branch programme in one of the four nursing areas. Supervised nursing practice is 50% of the programme and takes place in both hospitals and community settings.
A nurse's job is not easy so it's important you research it before making any final decision. Nurses hours can be long, particularly if working in a hospital, and often involves shift work. Starting salaries are not particularly high but rise with experience and skills, however in the past few years salaries have been increased to meet inflation and the type of establishment you work in and location can also affect how much you get paid. Although in the past nursing careers were generally not chosen for high salaries, the money offered has increased and benefits can also be attractive, also the satisfaction that you are helping people is immensely rewarding.
A nurse can make a big difference in people lives and is a rewarding career for those who want to devote themselves to helping others. Whether you opt to work in a large hospital on the children's ward or maternity unit, or in a small private practice then you'll find nursing is a challenge and fulfilling experience.
Nurses are in demand everywhere; you will find plenty of opportunities in major cities and find yourself part of a large community, whilst if you prefer to live and work in a rural area then you may find you have the important role of being the only community nurse in the district. Generally you will be paid a higher wage in the city but may also have a lot more stress to cope with, and longer hours or anti-social hours.
The demand for qualified nurses has never been higher and lots of openings exist in all areas. Health care is an important factor in todays society and its possible now to specialise in many fields of interest. A degree in nursing opens up many doors including private nursing care, doctor's offices, practices, the NHS and many businesses. Nurses are crucial to the medical field, not only for their knowledge and skill, but also for providing a compassionate bedside manner to their patients.

Everyone is going to be flocking to live in England shortly?
It seems that one can commit murder and get off scot free due to being stressed at the time or commit a burglary and get off scot free because you have kids! As long as you are a man of course.. Or if you are a woman you can work for social services, not do your job properly resulting in the death of a child and get paid humongous compensation !
What idiot wouldn't want to live in England?
Well, me for one!My moral values run a little higher I hope!
Your thoughts please!
Sorry Lonely Soldier - you and Bad Doggy are missing the point just this once.
Collectively these 3 decisions speak volumes about the way people are choosing allow social values to deteriorate.
Putting aside whether throwing out the Shoesmith decision was legally right, her assumption that she carried no blame ,was morally wrong
Stop. Before you go any further with this faulty line of thought, people need to realise and accept that the judicial system has not vindicated anything.
This ruling is not about determining if Shoesmith is at fault, but about determining whether or not she was treated fairly when she was removed from her position. The court has found that she was not, but is not making a judgement on whether or not she should have been removed.
It's a pretty important distinction and it all too often gets lost among the frankly contemptible Daily Mail-esque bile.
It's her behaviour that is at fault here, she is behaving if she has been vindicated. But the truth is she has not. It's not surprising giving her lack of empathy and steely gaze when this whole furore erupted.
EDIT: Of course it was morally wrong! How immoral is it that Shoesmith should win her case on the basis that set procedures were not followed in her dismissal yet it was blind obedience to procedure is what cost Peter Connolly his life?!
But until about a fortnight before his death Peter Connolly was one of about 100,000 neglected, at-risk children. The child's mother had a chaotic life, but she had several children and in spite of dirt and bad food they stayed alive.
A fortnight before Peter died, the boyfriend's brother moved in. Terrible abuse of Peter ensued, and after the child died, the boyfriend's brother ran away and was caught sleeping rough. If social workers took Peter away before that fortnight, they'd have had to have done the same to thousands of other children. Nothing distinguished this case until that fortnight.
Some people have no bloody clue about the awful lives people live at the bottom of the pile they live on top of, their smug demeanour and twisted language of "strategic direction", it was up to the "qualified professionals" under her to cover her arrse.
There are thousands and thousands of children out there just living in hope that someone like Owen doesn't move in.
