My recruiter is taking me to MEPS tomorrow to enlist. He said i will sign an Open Contract, swear in, THEN look for the jobs i qualify for and sign a contract for the job i want? Does that make sense or am i bout to get f'd over?
I already explained this to you. Signing an open contract in today's USMC is very common just to get you into the system and to give you a ship date.You pick your job later on when it is available.
The process is not the same for everyone. So don't expect your process to go like anyone else's because each enlistment can be different.
Regardless, what difference does it make. I doubt you would refuse to go to MEPS, right?

Fruit picking jobs are available in Shepparton during the season from approx January thru to April although the exact starting time and finishing dates vary from year to year.The job is physically strenuous and challenging and involves climbing up and down ladders,while carrying approx 15 kg fruit picking bags.Ladders also have to be moved from tree to tree, these ladders weigh approx.15kgs.but in saying that anybody who is physically fit and is motived to make good money would be able to handle the job.
New Shepparton Pickers are trained in the procedures of how to pick fruit without damaging the produce and the orchard management set the colour and size required.
The fruit pickers who are most successfull in Shepparton are the pickers who get thru the first few days and then stay for a number of weeks over this time they improve their fitness and picking speed.
PAY RATES are based on the number of bins picked,A wooden fruit bin holds approx 400kgs of fruit.Pay Rates will vary from fruit to fruit but overall the rate is approx $30 per Bin.A new Shepparton picker will take some time to get up to speed with their picking technique but could expect to pick 2 to 4 bins per day.After they become more experienced 4 to 10 bins a day could be achieved.Some fruit varieties are paid on a hourly basis.
