Has the demand for radiologic techs dried up?

So, I know this has been asked before but I don't know if it's been asked recently. It's late 2009 and the bureau of labor statistics web site still currently says: "Employment of radiologic technologists is expected to increase by about 15 percent from 2006 to 2016, faster than the average for all occupations."
But I'm also hearing through rumor mill lately that the jobs are drying up. Out of curiosity I did some job searches online for 'xray tech', 'radiologic tech', I really didn't find anything. (BTW, I live in California) I'm on the verge of applying to school for this field now that I've finally completed all the prerequisites, and I'm starting to get a little nervous that I won't find a job once I graduate. Can anyone tell me some UPDATED news regarding the current demand for xray techs? Thanks so much.
Also: Are sonographers in demand right now?

as of right now, like all other jobs, the recession has hit hard, but there will always be jobs for "per diem" positions (that don't include benefits and limited hours) but it isn't in demand like it was a year ago, plus if you've noticed in the news, there is about a 30% increase in people enrolling into schools due to this recession so the wait to get into these programs has increased ..... U/S is still in demand but it is also in the same boat as all other hospital jobs

What can I do with a BS in Mathematics?

I will be graduating in December with a degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Applied Statistics. I was told that there were many career opportunities available to me with this degree. I'm not having much luck in my online searches. I have a few months to look for a job, but I'm not sure how to go about it or what to look for. All I know is I'll be living in the Manhattan, KS area.

My fiance is in the Army, any hope of some sort of government job that uses my degree? Thanks for any help anyone can give me.
