Shay Williams-Garrett Launches Non-Profit Organization In An Attempt To Decrease Rate Single Parenting
Atlanta, Georgia - Shay Williams-Garrett, also known as "Shay Your Date Diva" to her fans, is a writer, speaker and relationship coach who has launched a non-profit organization: DIVA WISDOM (Women, Inspired to, Successfully, Date, Only for, Marriage) in an effort to help decrease the staggering single parent rate that continues to grow in America. The mission of DIVA WISDOM is to help prevent and end single parenting and teen pregnancy by educating and encouraging women to make wise relationship choices and to remain open to new and healthy relationships that ultimately lead to marriage. The organization hopes to encourage community development by decreasing fatherless homes.
Shay Garrett who was once a single mother herself says, "Being a single mother is the hardest job on earth. To look at your child who has to grow up with out seeing first hand what a nucleus family feels like is heart wrenching. It is also painful to know that your daughter or son may grow up without ever seeing their mother being loved and treated right by a good man so that they themselves will be equipped to reproduce the same thing."
Although many have been raised successfully within single parent homes, Shay's concerns are common among many single parents. In addition, there are a lot of down sides to single parenting and remaining single that affect the entire country. According to the Bureau of the Census, 63% of youth suicides, 71% of all high school dropouts, and 70% of juveniles in state operated institutions come from fatherless homes. In 1996, young children living with unmarried mothers were five times as likely to be poor and ten times as likely to be extremely poor. In addition, 72% of adolescent murderers grew up without fathers, and 60% of America's rapists grew up the same way. Last but not least, the proportion of single parent households in a community predicts its rate of violent crime and burglary, but the community's poverty level does not. (Source: D.A. Smith and G.R. Shay Williams-Garrett has helped many women around the globe through her online coaching and classes at DIVA University find love and attract better quality relationships but would like to partner with other women centered organizations and corporate sponsors in an effort to help more women in her own back yard.
DIVA WISDOM hopes to raise money so to sponsor women who desire to take online classes at DIVA University but cannot afford it or who are targeted by their community organization to be at high risk for poor relationship choices that ultimately lead to further unplanned pregnancies or single parenthood. DIVA WISDOM also looks forward to partnering with women organizations that will recommend or even make mandatory for their members or clients to participate in the educational relationship courses at DIVA University.
Starting August 2010, Shay Williams-Garrett and her team will conduct online and off line classes of DIVA University 101, 102 and 103. She will be speaking to, educating and training teen girls, single mothers and women who simply desire to avoid making poor relationship choices that can potentially lead to them becoming a single parent. In these courses she will educate single women with or without children about love, dating and relationships and how to attract the man of their dreams in less than 30 days. This first starts with healing past wounds and breaking down belief barriers that maybe standing in their way of attracting a healthy love experience.
Shay does not promise her students will find love in 30 days, as a matter of fact she discourages it. She promises that she can help any woman who is ready to attract a good man who can potentially be "The One" in less than 30 days. For some students the 30-day process to attracting a great man cannot begin until the emotional issues are healed. DIVA University classes will accept between 30-50 women per class and Shay Williams-Garrett will meet with them online, once a week for seven weeks for an hour each class. She will also travel to facilities through out the country to conduct weekend long seminars that condense the online class into 3 days. These interactive classes will be information packed, filled with activities and are sure to change the lives of women all around the country.
DIVA WISDOM will pay for each woman who qualifies to receive free registration to the DIVA University courses, subscriptions for three online dating sites and some childcare expenses, some women will even qualify to receive on going coaching by Shay Williams-Garrett personally.
Shay Williams-Garrett believes that since the increase of fatherless homes negatively affects the entire country, we all should do our part in helping to improve this situation. Are they any temp agencies or something comparable that deal with non profits jobs, esp. with nature in NYC?
I'm trying to get a job with a non-profit organization. I would love to work with something dealing with nature esp. (ie- Parks, ect). I am not looking for manual labor though- more in administration or corporate. I find it very hard to even get an interview at such organiations in NYC. Most temp places or "head hunters" deal more with financial or more "typical" companies however. Does anyone in the NYC area know of anyplace that could help, or have any suggestions on how to get my foot in the door at such organizations?
Look at Craigslist jobs. Lots of non-profits post job ads there. It's one of the best places I've found to look for jobs in the non-profit world.

Individuals working in the non-profit industry are there because of their values and personal goals, not for the money. Most non-profit employees find fulfillment in their work because their work reflects their personal values. Non-profit foundations focus on charitable work and moderate their businesses in order to offer the most benefits. Non-profit companies can be founded by religious groups, specific goal groups, and even groups lobbying together against the government. The vast majority of non-profit companies are located in Washington D.C., near governmental officials in order to lobby for funding for their non-profit.
The government employs a large part of the United State's population in positions ranging from law enforcement officers to park rangers at national parks. Government positions are typically compensated at a mediocre level, but your holidays and vacation time are ensured and government workers typically receive substantial benefit packages. Government positions are typically stable, but upward mobility is slow and the politics associated with a hierarchical system have a strong presence in the industry.
Working in local government versus federal government offers more availability
and variability of positions. However, the competition is steep for local positions and the hiring process can be tedious. Many government duties have been outsourced to private companies because the responsibilities of the government have become increasingly burdensome. The federal government has turned much of its focus on national security in recent years following 9/11, while non-profit organizations feel snuffed out of their ability to raise a voice for their cause against the upheaval of the war crisis. Governments are experiencing financial restrictions resulting in cutbacks and lack of funding to non-profits.
Non-profit and government organizations must work together to further the promotion of human justice and work efficiently to keep our cities, counties, and countries running smoothly. Non-profit and government industries are some of the most important jobs in society because they promote the welfare of the population by promoting social justice, enforcing the law, running court systems, raising funds for research to cure diseases, and much more.
Individuals looking to work in the non-profit and government industry must have a personal desire to work for the benefit of others. They should enjoy a casual yet high energy work place and be willing to compromise a high salary at the price of doing good for the world. The work may be draining, but it is personally rewarding and most employees thoroughly enjoy their work.
