Job Organizing
I have just been giving the job of organizing my Church's library. I am really looking forward to this task.
I have some organisational skills but no idea where to start. It is really small scale and includes Church teaching manuals and pamphlets, possibly a few hundred or so. I'd like to expand eventually to include fiction and ask members to donate from their private collections on a semi permanent loan basis. But first things first. How do I get organized? How will I catalogue those materials that I have already. If there are items that are several years old should I keep them? any assistance gratefully recieved especially from anyone involved in a Church library, especially from LDS. Thanks.
I do not need to take out a loan as the Church pays for all materials. Thanks for the answers so far.
I say devide into catagories. Make smaller groups of objects, then put them in ABC order... and lable everything!

What's a good job for someone who likes to organise?
I enjoy organising, and thinking up ideas of how to better run things in general. What kind of jobs involve a lot of organising? I know my question is a bit..vague.. but I'm just wondering if there are any jobs big on organising and looking after things?
Everyone needs someone who is a good organizer!
You could do just about anything.
Admin Assist comes to mind - great organizational skills are key.
Just remember you are a great organizer so go for admin assist of the top guy to make sure your talents are most utilized and rewarded.
Home Organizer - tougher business to get into but tons of people could use your services
Events coordinator - cruise lines, hotels, conference organizers etc.
Retail Manager - terrible hours but no lack of organizational opportunities.
Personal Assistant (I did this for awhile and it was my all time favorite!)
You like to organize - you will have no problem finding a job. Now think about what it is you want to do with your life and where you want your organizational skills to take you.
Do you like travel and adventure?
Do you like to stay in one place and build your roots in one community?
Figure out where you want to go and then do it.
Congrats on having this skill - there are too many people that never developed this one.
