How to get a new job in Manchester
For anyone who has to find a new job in Manchester there are plenty of avenues for you to take. If you are a lawyer then there are plenty of legal recruitment agencies in Manchester. If you are an IT consultant there are lots of IT agencies. In fact there are recruitment agencies for almost any type of job you can imagine.
Some of the agencies specialise, for example in legal recruitment Manchester, but there are also many that are general recruitment agencies which have a wide range of vacancies on offer.
The first thing to do therefore is to have an idea as to what sort of job you might want. Are you trained and qualified in something already and therefore looking for something within the same career? Or are you still relatively junior and just looking to get more work experience to help develop your skills?
Once you have answered this question you can then do a search of the internet and the jobs section in the local press to see what sort of jobs are on offer. Whilst you are doing this research you will also start to identify the recruitment agencies that are offering your type of jobs.
If you are a lawyer in Manchester then you will find that most jobs are advertised via legal recruitment agencies in Manchester. If you work in catering then you may find that there is a mix of jobs advertised by the internal HR departments of the companies themselves and jobs advertised by general recruitment agencies.
Once you have identified a shortlist of positions you are interested in you should then contact them for more details. Many of the adverts will tell you what the next steps are and often this will be to get in touch with a copy of your CV.
You must ensure that when you make your first contact that you do it in a formal and professional manner. Too many candidates will send off an informal email of enquiry with a rough draft of their CV in the first instance.
You will do much better in the recruitment process if you have spent some time working on your CV to present yourself in the best possible light. Then you can attach this to a formal email or letter which says a bit about you and why you are interested in that job.
By doing the research and then thinking about how you make first contact your chances of securing the jobs will increase dramatically. Remember that first impressions really do count.

i've accepted a job offer over the phone n wnt to rescind the offer. what should i do?
i've worked with the same co for 18 yrs. I've stress lately and feel that my managers are taking me for granted. as a manager of the dept for so many yrs, it seems that VP and AVP still micro-managed everything. i applied for a lower level and lower salary position in a diff co and was offered the job. i accepted over the phone and now i received a formal offer letter. after careful consideration ($25000 salary cut), i decided just to stick with what i have right now. i feel bad about the co that took the time to interview me. don't know what to do.
Be honest and tell the company that gave you the offer that after thinking it over that you've changed your mind.
They should have totally expected this since you were likely overqualified to begin with.
If the new company didn't expect you to have cold feet then shame on them.
They knew you were better than what they were giving you and were hoping to get away with one.
If they really want you, then maybe they'll counter offer.
Otherwise, staying put will do fine as long as you make progress on trying to get your current situtation into a more workable one.
