3 Ways to Help Your Relationship Succeed

We are all searching for the secret to a great relationship.  We think if we just find the right person or if we had enough money or the right job, etc. It is human nature to look for the solution outside of ourselves. But what if I told you that you have everything inside yourself to create a successful and happy relationship? Everyone can have a great relationship if they are willing to concentrate on three elements that are vital for happiness. 

Communication
Now are you really shocked that this is the first thing mentioned? Most of our difficulties in life could be avoided if we just understood how to communicate better. Not only our love relationships, but our work and family relationships can benefit from effective communication. 

So what does it take to have good communication in a loving relationship?  First of all you both need to be open and honest right from the start. A healthy bond cannot have secrets or lies. You need to talk about everything and more! Let your partner be a part of all the major decisions in your life.  Talk about hopes and dreams. Resolve problems together and experience life's joys as a couple. If you have an argument, talk it out until you are both satisfied with the outcome.

Probably the best advice about communication that can be given is to talk about your problems with each other, not friends and family. Your relationship will be closer if you keep your marital issues within the walls of your own home. Don't give friends and family a reason to choose sides. If you need outside help, consult a counselor.

Companionship
One of the main reasons we begin a relationship is to have a companion. As you grow older, the more important that companionship becomes. The physical part will slowly fizzle, but you will always need a companion.  Don't think that you can wait until you are old to cultivate the friendship part of your bond.  You need to have companionship as part of the foundation of your relationship. Be joint partners in money, child rearing, religion, work, etc. By sharing jointly in all the areas of your life you will have a complete and open relationship that will be a friendship as well. 

Compromise
We all like things to go our way, but that isn't possible in a loving relationship. However, if you have learned to use communication and companionship then compromise should come very easily to you. When we compromise on a decision we are showing love to the other person. We are letting them know that their wants and desires are more important than our own. In a truly compatible relationship, the compromising will go both ways at different times and sometimes it will work out for the good of both of you. 

Just like a three legged stool, a relationship needs all three of these components to be truly successful. Just remember the three C's – Communication, Companionship, & Compromise for a wonderful and happy relationship that will last through the ages.

I would say the parent did a poor job in raising the child. It is the duty and responsibility of the parent to riase the child in the Catholic faith. If the child turned out atheist, the parent probably did not do a good job raising the child in the Catholic faith.
